Happy B-day Hub!

Pat's parents were in town and his mom made her famous (and very delicious might I add) Ecclaires that night. Yum! Earlier I took Pat to lunch and then shopping! He loved it! ;)

So for Pat's birthday this year I wanted to do something fun. He's been waiting, for any good weather, to play some golf...but why wait? why not just play golf somewhere where there's already good weather... so St. George it was. We asked our good friends, Jake (also one of Pat's good golf partners) and Ashley Rust if they wanted to come with us, who happened to have a timeshare available to them that weekend. It worked out perfectly! So we got babysitters for the kids (a big THANK YOU to Lea, Alissa, Betty and Dan), and we left Friday morning, arrived Friday afternoon, Jake and Pat played some golf while Ashley and I ran errands and decorated the room for when they came back. Once they did, we went out to a Brazilian Steakhouse-yum!, where we enjoyed many meats and tasty dessert (complete with singing :) Then we went and played a little thing called Laser Tag! It was a Blast! Our team played against a bunch of these little 10 year old boys who were totally whipping our Boo-tays! Only to find out after that we actually whipped theirs :) We were pretty happy about that. Then we went home and soaked in the hot tub and dared each other to jump in the cold pool, played a little Monopoly Deal (card game. fun. try it), and finally went to bed. Saturday, Jake and Pat played another round of golf while Ashley and I went shopping :) Then we went out to lunch and headed home...to cold, cold Utah Valley. Oh yeah, the weather in St. George couldn't have been more perfect! Can I just say I Really Love the Sun! It was so nice! Anyway, it was so much fun to spend that time together and with our friends, but it was really good to get back to our kids. It's funny how bad they can drive you crazy, but how fast you can terribly miss them when they're not around. So once again, a birthday success :) Love you Beb, Happy Birthday!

The Tales of Sleepy Pat...

* Don't worry..- So this was just before I had Jack (false alarm night), and I wake up to some pretty heavy contractions. After a little while of waiting and timing I decide to wake Pat up. (yeah, you can see where this is going) So I shake him a little and tell him to wake up, I'm having contractions. He jerks up and is telling me everything is going to be okay.."I'll get the domain, I can set it all up for you, it's gonna be just fine. " And when I try to tell him again and explain to him I'm in a lot of pain we have to go to the hospital he just replies, "no, it's gonna be okay, I'll get you the domain just hold your horses." I wanted to punch him!!

* I'm not a dog..- In the middle of the night, I wake up to Pat getting up out of bed mumbling something. So naturally, I tell him to lay down (something I tell him very often during nights like these), and he quickly turns to me and says, quite rudely might I add, "I'm NOT a dog!! Do I look like a dog to you?!" i just remember thinking: my, aren't we cranky..and aren't you the one that woke me up? yeah.

*Just eggs huh?- So last night I wake up to Pat sitting up in bed and asking me: "So the recipe calls for just eggs huh?" then he gets out of bed and starts randomly collecting things off of the floor (our room is pretty messy right now) and saying things like: " well, we're going to add some of this, a dash of that, a little some of this, watch me add this..." it went on for about a minute or so until i finally told him to come back to bed. it was so funny listening to him use certain terms and how excited he was about it :) he's been cooking a lot these days can u tell?

*Nice try pal- This time I woke up to Pat literally leaping from our bed and into the wall. After hearing the loud "thump" I looked over and saw Patrick facing the wall, and squatting down with his arms out like he's lifting something really heavy and saying, "yeah, nice try pal, nice try."

*Shiny Nickel- I wake up to Pat leaning over me telling me something about a shiny nickel... he was saying,"he wants you to have this shiny nickel.." I asked him who, but he kept saying 'he.' so I went along with it and asked "why?" he started talking jibberish and all I could get from it was ..."to buy a donkey..." so apparently there is some man out there with a shiny nickel for me waiting for me to buy a donkey... what's next??

*It's a boy!- While trying to go back to sleep after waking up from a few really weird dreams, Pat suddenly launches over me while yelling,"It's a boy! It's a boy!" Then starts scanning the carpet by my side of the bed. I asked him what he was doing and his response was: "I just don't want Charlie putting anything nasty in his mouth. Like a nasty wrapper from the circus." (?) I just kinda laughed and shook my head and told him I would take care of it and to lie back down and go back to sleep. THEN ten minutes later, he sits up again. I asked him whats wrong and he said he didn't want Charlie to bite his fingers... so again I told him I would take care of it and to go back to sleep.

*No,no,no,no..- So again i wake up to Patrick's super fast moving approach to a dream he's having: he quickly sits up yelling,"oh crap! No,no,no,no.." then shoots up to his feet standing on the bed in a panic, and still yelling,"no,no,no,no,no..," he gets up on his tip-toes and reaches up with his arms like he's trying to keep a glass jar on a high shelf from falling. I was so irritated. These are the worst cuz I seriously feel like I've just suffered a heart attack! I wake up truly thinking something is wrong until i realize it's just Pat dreaming! So then i have to take deep breaths, trying to calm down so i can go back to sleep. Man oh man...

*Watch This!- I watch Pat as he sits up in bed, then grabs my feet and says,"oh yeah? watch this!" he tries picking up my feet (they're buried under covers) and can't so he grabs part of the blanket covering them and starts twisting, folding, twirling, tucking... like he's creating some undiscovered invention...and then says,"c'mon I can do this," then after another minute or so stops and says while examining his creation,"hmmm, this is tricky." Fidgets a little more with the blanket then lays back down. Random? I think so..

*Thump and Sigh- The other night while we are all fast asleep...I woke up suddenly to Patrick sitting up, then standing up (on the bed), then he jumped off and slid across the floor! I heard a loud THUMP and then a big sigh.He did it so fast i woke up frightened and worried something was wrong. I literally felt my heart stop. But when I tried to ask him if everything was ok, I realized it was just one of his episodes.

*Whooo! Nice!- So I'm lying in bed debating whether or not to wake up Patrick after a nightmare I'd had (I know I'm a whimp) when all of a sudden Patrick sits up yelling "Whooo! Nice, bud! Yeah! Whoo-hoo, yeah! Nice!" this went on for about 20 secs. He was yelling it as if he were cheering Charlie on for something. It was so cute listening to him, I couldn't help but smile. I felt better after that and I was able to fall back asleep.

*Similac/Uploading File- So i wake up to Pat telling me: "Similac, this is the important issue at hand." me: "baby formula??" (then he dives over me across the bed and starts fidgeting with the little tv baby moniter on the floor like its a computer-hitting it and "typing") me: "babe, what are you doing?" Pat: "I just have to upload a file real quick."

*Poochie- I wake up to him saying, "So, I don't know much but...(then suddenly he starts yelling) POOCH! POOCHER! POOCHIE!" I couldn't stop laughing for a good 5 mins!

Well, let me just say it's been an interesting 2 and 1/2 years being married to a sleeptalker/walker/mover/fighter/superhero...oh yeah the list goes on. and just last night for the first time Patrick actually "hit" me in the face while he was sleeping! it was more like a push but still.. i have always been afraid of such a moment. I only pray that they come few and far between. Well, this episode last night is what made me decide to share all the many episodes I've endured in the last 2 and 1/2 years and the many...many...more I know that will come. So I hope you enjoy The Tales of Sleepy Pat...

*Spiderman- I remember the night after we saw the newest Spiderman movie... I woke up to Pat jumping on our bed crouched down like spiderman shooting spiderwebs out of his wrists. Sound effects and all!

*David Copperfield- One night I woke up to Pat sitting up in bed with his arms wide out very loudly announcing," INTRODUCING DAVID COPPERFIELD!"

*Pretty Katie- Yeah, doesn't just the title of this one kinda freak you out?! So one night I wake up to Patrick staring at me and petting my arm softly whispering,"pretty katie...pretty katie..." so as you can imagine I flipped out! But thats not even the freakiest part! I finally go back to sleep and the same night an hour later I wake up again to him doing the exact same thing! Oh man... I forgot I try not to remember that one.

*Where's Charlie?!- So after Charlie was born it was a nightly occurance til just recently actually... that Pat would dig in our blankets either looking for Charlie, or warning me not to move cuz I might roll over Charlie, sometimes I would even wake up to Patrick petting a part of the blanket calling it Charlies head..? (Rolling over Charlie was one of his biggest fears-funny thing is he's never slept in the same bed as us)

*Being Discreet- I wake up to Patrick one night making the scrunchiest face imaginable, with his hands out by his face asking me in a funny tone,"discreet, is that what we're goin for here?" Yeah, don't ask where that one came from. But I couldn't help but laugh.

*Here?- One night Pat got out of bed and stood up to the wall, with his arms up and spread reaching as if he were hanging something asking,"here?...or here...?"

YES ON PROPOSITION 8 in California

You've been tagged. PLEASE READ THIS no matter what state you live in.

Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt children. If gay marriage remains legal, public schools will put it on equal footing with traditional marriage. Children will likely receive “age appropriate” information about sexual relations within heterosexual and homosexual marriages.

Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt churches. The court’s decision will inevitably lead to conflicts with religious liberty and free speech rights. Society will become more and more hostile to traditional beliefs about marriage and family. Over time, greater acceptance of nontraditional marriage will be demanded of all people. This could impact the ability of any religion to teach and practice its beliefs. Including adoption agencies.

A YES vote will not hurt gays. In California, the law provides for marriage-related benefits to be given to civil unions and domestic partnerships. Proposition 8 does not diminish these benefits.

A father in Massachusetts was frustrated when his twin kindergartners were taught about homosexuality at school by the teachers. He insisted he be notified in the future before such things were discussed so he could pull his boys out of school.He was taken to jail. Click Here for the story.

A Catholic adoption agency In the UK closed their doors because of the Government's new homosexual equality laws. The Equality Act forbids discrimination in the provision of goods and services on the basis of sexual orientation. The law was forced through Parliament last year despite past Prime Minister Tony Blair's recommendation that Catholic adoption agencies be exempted from the rules. Click Here for more info.

Earlier this month judges in Conneticut overturned the state law (just as the judges in California did) to legalized gay marriage. This is not just an issue in California. We voted years ago to keep traditional marriage as the only marriage recognized in the state of California, 4 judges overturned our vote…and we need to fight back. That is what this Proposition is about. This is happening everywhere and the leaders of the church and others have warned that the outcome of California’s vote will affect the way the other states vote. So PLEASE…even if you don’t live in California, put this on your blog or email this on. The internet knows no state line. You know contacts in California that I don’t…and so do your friends. Please pass this on as it could eventually have an effect on everyone!
